  • Finds all Microsoft Office™ documents in your organization
    With this function you can search for all MS-Office documents in your LAN. All documents will get a status automaticaly, so that you can differ between inactive (documents which have not been opend for a period of time) and active documents.

  • Detection of Microsoft Office Interfaces and De-Facto Templates Automatically
    In the run-up to the migration the analysis process of the clients can identify all applications (standard or individual software) with interfaces using MS-Office applications, i.e. will find all applications which create MS-Word, MS-Excel or MS-PowerPoint files as an output and connect to MS-Office by OLE automation or simple shell calls. The following screenshots show a possible export of these information.



    Furthermore data regarding the open or save process of documents will be collected, to detect de-facto templates (normal office documents, not saved as templates, but used as templates). After the migration to OpenOffice.org or StarOffice you can provide the employees with new templates.

    To forbid a misuse of this information, all sensitive data will be encryted saved on the SCAI MAS server. Only a few persons are allowed to use this information. This will be assured by generating a private and public key for the encryption process in-house. The following graphic shows the proceeding.   • Analyzes all documents found, highlighting conversion critical issues
    The analysis of the doocuments provides all informations regarding the incompatibility of the documents during import in OpenOffice.org / StarOffice 8. It shows all migration specific issues and calculates the work to correct the problems.

  • Pre-categorizes documents by evaluating analysis results using common measures
    You can categorize MS-Office documents using your own measures or let SCAI MAS categorize the documents automatically.

  • Calculates migration costs, based on analysis results
    In the run-up to the migration process you can calculate the migration costs. The calculated costs are preliminary estimate, becaus usually you have to calculate the migration costs manually. But the calculated costs will help you to calculate the exact complexity.

  • Converts documents
    You can convert your MS-Office documents into the open document format automatically. Using the scripting functionality of SCAI MAS you can control SCAI MAS in many ways. Inmany cases preparing documents for the migration or performing
    follow-up course work on the converted documents can also be automated.

  • Archives documents
    You can archive documents as PDF or in native format automatically.
